About Tall Timba

Dave Gillard, aka DJ TALL TIMBA, started collecting 12″ Dance Singles when he was 13.
From there a life-long love of dance music developed, that has sustained thru as many eras of Dance as there have been genres.
Always with an ear for a hot tune, Dave has been heavily involved in the Australian Dance & Music scene since the start of the 90s
Initially thru working in Music Stores like HMV, Brashs, Fish Records & Red Eye Records, then thru influential roles such as A&R Manager at Central Station Records, where he helped shape the Australian Dance Music landscape both locally and overseas.
Inspired & educated by an exciting local club & music festival scene, frequented by a never-ending stream of ‘world class’ local & international DJs, along with regular trips OS to some of the world’s best & most influential nightclubs & dance music festivals, Dave’s head & music collection is always brimming with great tunes, the latest sounds & cool, fresh ideas.

Tall Timba‘s early DJ residencies have been with Minimal Sydney @ The Burdekin and TRANSITIONS at the Civic Underground.

Minimal Sydney is a joint collaboration between Shepz (Church Of Techno) & Dave Gillard (Tall Timba Productions) and is a happening club night that’s unique to the Sydney Club scene, being at the forefront of all things minimal and the only outlet for those looking for “Somewhere to go after your Friday night out, to let yourself go after the hard working week; something for the discerning listener of quality minimal techno/minimal house. A proper European influenced dark and twisted underground vibe, for those who take their music seriously.” Minimal Sydney is held the once a month at a dark underground afterhours location somewhere in inner Sydney.

TRANSITIONS is an event created & coordinated by Tall Timba Productions that aims to give you “a month’s worth of clubbing in the one night, for the one low entry price”. We start off in the DEEP end with Tech House, then progress thru Techno & end the night HARD with some bangin’ Psy-Trance & Tech Trance (and everything in between). This is a true journey club style! “The best sound system in Sydney has been chosen and adding to the ride will be amazing ‘world class’ VISUALS which will build throughout the night & will parallel the accelerating momentum of the music.” Our club slogan kinda sums it all up: “We start Deep and then get Hard!” TRANSITIONS is held every few weeks at the Civic Underground, Sydney.
